Fully Alive Life as practice

Mindfulness Meditation – Life as Practice

A fortnightly circle exploring presence in action, movement, and stillness.

When we hear the word meditation, many of us imagine sitting quietly, trying to still the mind.

This circle explores something wider.

Mindfulness meditation life as practice means learning how we are in relationship to action, movement, conversation, emotion, responsibility, and stillness of being. It is not about escaping life. It is about meeting life more directly.

Rather than gathering every week, we will meet every two weeks. This rhythm allows space to practice, integrate, reflect, and return with real experience - not just ideas.

Over time, practice becomes less something we “do” and more something we live.

The Watcher and Everyday Life

In this circle, we sometimes use simple language to describe different ways we experience ourselves.

Many of us live much of our lives from what we call the Watcher - the part of us that monitors, anticipates, tries to get things right, and keeps an eye out for what might go wrong. The Watcher isn’t a problem. It developed to protect us.

But when the Watcher is always leading, life can feel tight, effortful, or slightly out of reach.

Through mindfulness practice, we begin to notice that there is also:

  • a softer, steadier presence that can meet experience with warmth

  • a quiet awareness that can observe without judgement

  • and moments where life simply unfolds without needing to be managed

We are not trying to remove anything.
We are learning how to relate differently.

Over time, what once felt like something to fix can simply be greeted with, “Ah… you’re here.”

That shift in relationship is the heart of this practice.

Spiritual practice does not remove our old patterns. It changes our relationship to them. Over time, what once felt overwhelming can be met with a simple “hello.” That greeting is mindfulness in action.

What We Will Explore

Across 8 sessions (over 16 weeks), we will explore:

  • Settling into the body without forcing calm

  • Recognising when the Watcher is leading

  • Discovering a quieter, steadier way of being

  • Awareness in movement and everyday tasks

  • Mindfulness in conversation and relationship

  • Meeting emotion without suppression or drama

  • The difference between effort and natural presence

  • Life itself as the teacher

Each session includes guided meditation, embodied awareness, and gentle reflection. You will be offered simple practices to explore in the two weeks between meetings.

Why Fortnightly?

Meeting every two weeks gives space for practice to land.

There is time to:

  • try things out

  • notice what arises

  • forget

  • remember

  • and return

This rhythm supports integration rather than intensity.
